Plague Knight: The New Class in Diablo 5
The Plague Knight is the first all-new class in Diablo V. The Demon Hunter and Monk return alongside it.
The Plague Knight is the new class in Diablo 5. Blizzard calls it "the embodiment of walking death." It roams the battlefield spreading disease and pestilence, then consumes it for power. The class was revealed on September 12, 2026, in the Diablo V panel at BlizzCon, together with two familiar classes: the Demon Hunter and the Monk.
What we know about the Plague Knight
The official description is only a few sentences long. It tells us three things:
- New to the series: Blizzard calls the class "all-new." It has not appeared in any earlier Diablo game.
- A plague theme: it roams the battlefield, spreading disease and pestilence.
- Power from decay: it ultimately consumes that disease for power.

Two classes from Diablo III return next to the new class.
Demon Hunter
The Demon Hunter stalks the forces of Hell with twin crossbows. It strikes from the shadows and leaps across the battlefield.
Monk
The Monk brings martial perfection back to Sanctuary. It batters demons with its fists and calls down holy power.
More classes are coming
Blizzard says these are only the first classes on the road to Diablo V. More details on combat, progression and builds will follow. Which classes come next is unknown. Starting in 2027, Blizzard plans to share regular development updates.
