Diablo 5 Gameplay: Confirmed Systems
Blizzard confirmed four Diablo V gameplay systems at the BlizzCon 2026 reveal: a world that Diablo reshapes, a caravan as your travelling base, a grid inventory with item sets, and Diablo II-style runes and runewords. Everything else — endgame, seasons, multiplayer, difficulty — has not been announced. This page lists only what Blizzard has said.
A world Diablo reshapes
Diablo actively remakes Sanctuary around you. Terrain, locations, monsters and rewards change as he reshapes the world, so the map you travel is not fixed. Blizzard has not detailed how often or under which conditions this happens.
The caravan
Instead of a fixed town hub you build a caravan of allies — merchants and combat companions — that travels with you through the ruined lands. Blizzard has not yet shown how recruiting, upgrading or managing the caravan works.
Grid inventory
The grid inventory returns: larger items take up more slots, as in Diablo II. Inventory size and stash details have not been announced.
Item sets tied to equipment
Item sets are tied to equipment again. Blizzard has not listed any sets or their bonuses yet.
Runes and runewords
Crafting is inspired by Diablo II, with runes and runewords at its core. Which runes exist, how they drop and how runewords are formed has not been shown.
Memorable items
Blizzard states that items are designed to stay memorable after hundreds of hours — a stated design goal rather than a detailed system so far.
What Blizzard has not announced yet
- Endgame activities, seasons and difficulty tiers
- Multiplayer, co-op, PvP and trading
- Skill trees, resources and class mechanics
- Paragon-style progression or level cap
We list open questions on purpose: if something is not on this page, Blizzard has not confirmed it. The page is updated with every official announcement.
