The announcement is short. For three decades, Sanctuary has stood on the edge of oblivion. So far, the darkness has been pushed back. That changes now.
For the first time, you enter a Sanctuary where Diablo has triumphed. One question sits at the heart of the game: what must you become when the world has already fallen? The post is signed by the Diablo V Team, with the line "Coming Spring 2029."
The panel brought the first details
The Diablo V: Forging the Next Era panel followed that evening. The team showed far more than the announcement did:
- You play the Heir to Westmarch. Diablo rules Sanctuary from its throne.
- Instead of towns, a caravan of survivors travels with you.
- The world shifts: terrain, points of interest, monsters and rewards can change when you return.
- Items take inspiration from Diablo II, with stat requirements, sets, and Runes and Runewords.
The first three classes
Two classes return, and one is new. The Demon Hunter fights with twin crossbows. The Monk relies on fists and holy power. The Plague Knight spreads disease and consumes it for power. Blizzard says these are only the first classes. See all details on the Diablo 5 classes page.
What happens next?
